Hello to the very few people who ever read this blog in the first place. It's been a reeeaaaallllly long time since I last posted, but I return with a vengence. I would love to say my absence is due to months sitting on a mountain top contemplating existencial (?) existance, but it was actually because I was too cheap to buy a new computer. Fortunately my brother is not so stingy and gave me his old one because he bought a new big screen Mac (Wurly will be impressed). Anyway, here I am. Lots has gone on. I got a kick out of re-reading my last post (after all this time) and realised that the infamous Gelati incident obviously had an affect because I am now 30kg lighter! Thanks rude guy. You should become a motivational life coach.
I am now a Great Aunt. Which is not to say that I am really good at being related to my siblings children. In actual fact, my nephew and his partner had a baby boy called Zep in February. He's awesome. He's smiling and giving the occasional chuckle which entertains to no end. Laughing babies have to be one of the coolest things in life. It's my fav thing to look at on Utube.
Anyway, I know you are all thinking that I could not possibly be old enough to have a 26 year old nephew. You are correct that I look far too young, alas, it's true. Of course my sister is much, much older than me (ok, I'm just cracking myself up at this stage, because she would so kill me if she read this) and so I was only 9 when my nephew was born. And that may slightly explain the math.
Anyhoo, have to go for now, have a party to tart up for. I do love a good Aussie back yard party in winter. Will let you know how the party went later....................

A funny thing happened on the way to the shops....
I love those moments in life when you realise how grown up you are. Probably because most of the time I feel relatively immature. Yesterday was a really hot day, and once work was through, I had no plans other than picking up a few DVD's and kicking back on the couch. I went for a wander uptown and stopped in at this new Gelati place I had heard about. I got my 2 scoops of the good stuff and headed back out on to the sizzlin' streets. It was crowded on the sidewalk and this wall of people were headed toward me. Everyone seemed to be madly rushing to somewhere. But not me, I had my Gelati and no special place to be, so I was sauntering. Out of nowhere this guy is coming toward me and when he gets right up to me, he says quietly "Out of the way tubby". And with my tiny spoon still in my mouth, I just burst laughing. I don't think he realised he was saying it out loud. But the funniest part is, I just wasn't offended in the slightest. A few years ago I would have beat him up with my handbag or verbally humiliated him. Fortunately for him I have grown up aswell as out. So my question today is, Has anyone else been a victim of a 'drive by' verbal shooting?

I survived Valentimes Day

I never really knew where I stood on the whole issue of Valentines. Is it just a way for greetings card companies to make more money? Is there really any substance to the romance of it all? I am sick of listening to chicks complain about how commercial it has all become when they are really just bitterly knowing that no gifts are coming their way. And dudes are just as bad because they don't want to make any grand gestures incase they set a standard they know they won't maintain next year. I don't like to make generalisations like that, because I certainly did see some very stressed florists running around yesterday, so plenty of folks did in fact get something nice. I still haven't made up my mind on whether to feel the romance just because of a day in the calender. However, on a regular basis there is a young girl who catches my afternoon bus. Her beau is always sitting on a park bench waiting for her and without fail everytime she exits the bus, they see each other they both smile, embrace, kiss and walk off hand in hand. I think that's worth much more than any roses or chocolates in a heart shaped box.

A country starting with 'U'

http://tinyurl.com/smc6g
A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless until she starts blogging here and gives herself a silly name) sent me the connection to this site. It's a piece from the boys at CNNNN about the wisdom of Americans. It's hilarious, take a look. In all fairness though, I don't know which countries are part of the 'axis of evil'.

That 80's band

I have been at band practice this evening. Things are coming along quite nicely. The photo above is a bit grainy, but you can still make out the mullets and bad 80's style. You will notice I am not in the photo, because I am behind the camera that took the shot! My favourites on our play list are Girls on Film and Kids in America, both classics! The sound of the continuous camera shutter at the beginning of 'Girls' still takes me back. But the point I'd like to raise is the eye opener of having the printed lyrics to all the songs we are performing and finding out the stupid stuff that I have been singing for all these years is totally wrong. Which brings me to telling you that up until only a few years ago, when I would soulfully be singing along with my eye's closed and fists clenched to David Bowie's Ashes to Ashes (not a song that we do by the way) I would be saying " ashes to ashes, bunk to bunket, we know Major Tom's a junket". The real words are 'funk to funky, we know Major Tom's a junky'. I know you guys must have some similiar stuff to share.....

My Apartment is a STAR

Ok, so I think I am getting the hang of this bad boy! As promised Nancy, I have started this post with a photo taken from my window. It may look like a paparazzi shot, but I swear I was only a few feet away, and while I am not expecting a christmas card this year from the lovely Ms Davis, I did get to say hello to her. All the folks on the set of the show said that she was stealing every scene. I guess we will have to wait (here in Oz) for the show to be screened in December to see for ourselves. I was politely asked by the crew to get out of my gawking position so that they could film through the window these shots were taken from. I obliged so that my little apartment by the river could finally have her own shot at stardom. Alas, I was not asked to take a leading role myself. Nevermind. My day will come. Oh Yes. My day will come.
I don't know what I'm doing here

No I am not making some deep statement about life. I am still trying to work out how this works. Hang in there girls, any day now I'll know what the skinny is. I really just want to know if I am the only one that can see that photo of a flower? Because if you can, it may just mean that I learnt something new today about blogging.

If only...
Do you know what? I am having such a great hair day today, but you don't know that, because I still can't figure out how to get flippin' photo's onto my blog.
